Improvements before deadline

Some of the improvements we needed was mostly the quality and the lighting that we needed to fix, in the mirror scene where Layla is singing into the mirror was originally quite dark. When I asked my peers if they thought this as well they agreed with me and said that we should try to refilm if we can, however since we were tight on schedule we decided to first try and edit it so that it wasn't as dark which seemed to work just fine. We also had other base tracks like the ones we filmed in Camden and I watched all of them. I then noticed that I wasn't looking at the camera much and it looked very awkward and wasn't running smoothly and that we ran into a couple people and other people disturbed us whilst we were filming so we decided to completely take it off as it just didn't look good with it. We have completed all the improvements that was set to us by our peers and teachers.

Reflection on filming since last Monday

We haven't yet got a shot to start the music video, therefore we need to take some establishing shots to set the location as a starting point for our base tracks. Also, some clips from the car park scene were too blurry so we have to re-film to get more clear footage; more close ups and extreme close ups to see Layla lip syncing the lyrics. To improve our video, there will need to be more quirky shots of Layla without lip syncing and more clips of background imagery because although our song is performance based, the video doesn't have to solely focus on Layla and she doesn't have to be present in every clip.  We still have to shoot the scene in the white screen room. This will consist of Layla singing whilst being projected with memories of her and Bilal that we previously shot in Dilara's house. These shots will be taken from different angles and will have close ups, mid shots and long shots so we have a variety. There has to be a differentiation between the verse and the chorus, to ensure this, the chorus will be performance based where there will be quirky moves outside the areas of our base tracks, however the verse will have her singing. During the chorus, we will have faster cut outs to match the beat of the song. Some of our shots are too long, so we need to cut into them more often as the scenes can become quite repetitive at times.

Overview of lesson- 30th november

 

For the chorus of the song we are going to include the green screen footage where the artist is singing in front of the camera in a mid shot.  We are going to add a colour filter which changes the colour throughout the video.  Initially, the idea was having three base tracks layed over eacher with three different colours, however due the contrast it made the image look grey. Therefore we had to alter our idea, instead we came up with having one image of the artist but with different colours that changes through out the video.

Reflection on my blogging

I think that my blogging may have improved but not drastically. Last year my marks were pretty much the same and I did go up a grade both last year and this year however I think I have left a huge gap in my blogging when we were out to film which may have dropped my marks down. I think that if I were to give myself a mark out of 20 I would give myself a 14, I think I have a variety of different ICT. However I think I need to improve on being up to date and to be more detailed about my blogging.

Blogging Health Check - 2

Dilara this is much improved. Lovely to see some of the first shots of the video posted during half term! The brand on the blog background is strong - I'd like to see more photos of Layla - our artist. She's hiding at the moment and I don't have strong enough sense of who she is. If you'd done the photos for the ancillary this would help rectify this. Interesting HUGE flurry of activity on 7th October I note!!  Targets as follows:
1) complete individual research posts on synergy (blog task 13 research) and analysis of original video (or similar Ellie vid) (blog task 17). These will show individual input well and raise marks.
2) show what revisions you have done with your ideas and production schedule since the pitch - action on the feedback must be shown.
3) make sure your OWN ideas for digipack and website are posted - I'm not sure if they are your ideas or the groups at the moment - it will help you a lot when you come to design your own to have worked o them now.
