Student Video Analysis

13. Lauren Madihah Rusne Ashley from 283goswell on Vimeo.

There were many previous student videos that I enjoyed however I felt like this one was the closest to our genre because we are going to have a female singer and our genre is pop aswell. I think that they follow Andrew Goodwins theory, their music video would be a disjuncture video because there is little connection between the music video and the lyrics. They also follow Carol Vernallis' theory where they have obvious edits like overlapping two different scenes and using a reflective effect aswell. They also have many base tracks one of them is when she's in a room dancing with balloons. However they do not follow Laura Mulvey's theory because she is not objectified, I think they chose the route of artists like Adele instead and didn't want to follow the male gaze rule.

I liked this shot because its something different and you can see their exact movements on the camera aswell.
This was one of my favourite base tracks although it was simple and less sometimes less is better and it was bright and full of colour therefore it links with the song aswell as the song is quite upbeat.

I liked this edit of two different scenes overlapping when the music slowed down it gave it a different effect which I liked.
